A violin attributed to Jean Laurent Clément atelier.

Jean Laurent Clément was born in Mirecourt in France in 1783, he established his Paris workshop around 1810 and remained active until about 1848. One of the premiere Parisian violin makers of his generation. Among his employees were a Georges Chanot, Augière, Calot, and Thomassin. He based his violins mostly on the model of Nicolas Lupot. Clément won medals at the Paris Exhibitions of 1823 and 1827.
